Dr. Dean C. Preddie earned both his masters and medical degrees at Washington University in St. Louis in 1999 and completed internal medicine residency training at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan in 2002. After completing subspecialty training in nephrology at Columbia University in New York City in 2004, he joined their faculty as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine, specializing in glomerular diseases, hypertension and critical care, as well as acute and chronic dialysis management.

Because of his commitment to improving vascular access options for his dialysis patients, in 2008 Dr. Preddie underwent interventional training with Dr. Gregg Miller, an expert in dialysis vascular access care. He continued to hone his skills with Dr. Miller while maintaining his clinical responsibilities at Columbia University before accepting the invitation to join Fresenius Vascular Care full-time in 2012 to support the physician training program at the Brooklyn office.

Dr. Preddie is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology and maintains an appointment as an adjunct clinical professor of medicine in the Columbia University Division of Nephrology. He is a member of the American and International Societies of Nephrology as well as the American Society of Diagnostic and Interventional Nephrology.

Board Certified Interventional Radiologist

Graduating from SUNY Upstate in 1972 and completing a residency at SUNY Downstate in 1976, Dr. Sclafani is a Diplomate of the American College of Radiology with an Added Qualifications in Interventional Radiology. He has been a practicing interventional radiologist for the past 40 years. He spent the last decade as Professor and Chairman of Radiology and Professor of Surgery and Emergency Medicine at the Downstate Medical School.

He is a past President of the American Society of Emergency Radiology, a Fellow of SIR, and the first international member of the Chinese Society of Interventional Radiology. He is also a Founding Member of the International Society for Neurovascular Disease. Recognized for developing endovascular techniques of hemorrhage control, Dr. Sclafani was honored by the New York Academy of Medicine for his work among the poor and by the New York Police Department for his celebrated save of a police officer wounded in a shooting. Dr. Sclafani has also been recognized for outstanding community service by Concerned Women of Brooklyn.

Dr. Sclafani has authored more than 160 scientific papers and authored or co-authored 20 textbooks. He has also presented more than 250 invited national and international lectures. He was the first Section Editor of Radiology for the Journal of Trauma, and served on the editorial boards of the Journal of Interventional Radiology, and Emergency Radiology. Dr. Sclafani has been named "Top Doctor - New York City" in Vascular & Interventional Radiology by Castle Connolly in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2009, 2010 and 2011. Castle Connolly identifies Top Doctors by location and specialty using a peer nomination process.
