Medical Director

Dr. Timoteo Cabrera received his MD from the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio, where he also completed an internship and residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in nephrology. He has been board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in internal medicine and nephrology; he is also certified by the American Society of Diagnostic and Interventional Nephrology.

Dr. Cabrera's main focus is dialysis access pertaining to fistulas and grafts. This includes percutaneous fistulograms, arteriograms, angioplasty, thrombectomy, vessel ligation, catheter placement, stent deployment and banding of grafts or fistulas. An active member of the American Society of Nephrology, Texas Medical Association, and the Renal Physicians Association, Dr. Cabrera has lectured and made clinical presentations in his fields of expertise. He is the medical director of Star Vascular Access Center in San Antonio, Texas and was designated as a "Best Doctor" in San Antonio Scene Magazine.


Rashid Sharaf, MD - Star Vascular Access CenterRashid Sharaf, MD

Interventional Nephrologist

Dr. Rashid Sharaf was educated at Quaid-i-Azam University, the Army Medical College, and the University of London. He completed an internal medicine internship at the Quetta Military Hospital, an internal medicine residency at St. Barnabas Hospital in the Bronx, NY, and a fellowship in nephrology at the Louisiana State University Medical Center.

Dr. Sharaf holds board certifications in both internal medicine and nephrology from the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is an active member of the American College of Physicians, the American Society of Nephrologists, the American Medical Association, the Renal Physician Association, and the American Society of Diagnostic and Interventional Nephrology. Dr. Sharaf is involved in the treatment of patients with kidney disease as well as dialysis and transplant patients. He also has extensive experience in dialysis access and peritoneal dialysis (PD) catheter placement.
