NVC Partners with Leading Endovascular Physicians to Own and Operate Outpatient Vascular Centers for Peripheral Vascular Arterial Procedures

January 1, 2008

National Vascular Care will continue to expand its focused outpatient vascular business through the development of peripheral vascular centers and facilities that combine both dialysis access care and arterial procedures.

Effective January 1, 2008, CMS approved the reimbursement of percutaneous transluminal angioplasty (PTA) and stent placement in office based vascular centers. The result is that physicians can now provide comprehensive diagnosis and treatment for a wide range of peripheral vascular disease.

Outpatient vascular centers can be owned by physicians and created without either a Certificate of Need or an Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) license.

Ronald H. Rodgers, Jr, CEO of National Vascular Care commented, "These changes are clearly a great benefit for patients and payers. High quality outpatient facilities lower costs and provide an efficient, patient focused setting that drives patient satisfaction. Vascular surgeons, cardiologists and interventional radiologists will now be able to deliver complete vascular care in an office based center."

Rodgers explained, "Since early 2007, our physician partners from Vascular & Transplant Specialists (VTS) in Virginia have been selectively performing peripheral angiography at their outpatient vascular center, Virginia Beach Endovascular. Peripheral angiography has been sprinkled in with VTS's vascular access cases. With the changes in reimbursement, VTS expects to perform many more arterial cases knowing that all the necessary therapeutic tools are now available in their convenient and efficient setting."
